Checking In

We would like to remind our patients that on arrival to clinic, to please check in with reception or with our check in machine that is situated next to the lift.

Please ensure before leaving your consults that you have requested all necessary:

• Scripts – Referrals   – Medical Certificates   – Imaging Referrals
• Pathology Referrals

VITAMIN B6 TOXICITY (Pyridoxine)

Vitamin B6 is a water-soluble vitamin and an essential nutrient for human function. It is needed for protein and carbohydrate metabolism, the formation of red blood cells, and certain brain cells. It also influences brain development, immune system health, and steroid hormone activity

• Vitamin B6 is commonly found in supplements such as multivitamins, migraine products, nerve health products, and energy drinks. Some of these are primarily B6 supplements, but many others include the vitamin as an additive
• Vitamin B6 toxicity, primarily caused by excessive supplementation, can lead to serious health issues, including peripheral neuropathy, characterized by symptoms like numbness and tingling
• You should see a doctor if you experience any of these symptoms, especially if you are taking supplements containing vitamin B6. Keep in mind that vitamin B6 can be added to other supplements (such as magnesium) and is often listed by one of its chemical names – pyridoxine, pyridoxal, or pyridoxamine. It’s important to check the label of all vitamins and supplements that you’re taking.

VACCINATIONS

Whooping Cough:

Recommended and government funded for the following:

• infants at 2 (can be given from 6 weeks of age), 4 and 6 months of age; children at 18 months & 4 years of age; adolescents in Year 7 (or age equivalent)
• pregnant women in every pregnancy between 20 to 32 weeks gestation
• people under 20 years who did not receive pertussis-containing vaccination in childhood 
• refugees and humanitarian entrants aged 20 and over.

RSV – Respiratory Syncytial Virus

Recommended and government funded for the following:

• Pregnant women (28 to 36 Weeks) to protect their newborn infant

SHINGLES

Recommended and government funded for the following:

• People aged 65 years and over
• Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 50 years and over
• 18 years and over considered at increased risk of herpes zoster due to an underlying condition and/or immunomodulatory/ immunosuppressive treatments

*If you are not eligible for a government funded vaccine, please speak to your GP about obtaining a script for the vaccination.

Increase in Practice Fees:

As of the 1st of September, Murray House Clinic will have to increase our fees to accommodate increased expenses and inflation, please see table below for an update in out fees:
